Hays Snow Angels Project pairs volunteers with residents who need help clearing snow
A new volunteer effort, the Hays Snow Angels Project, will match volunteers with elderly residents and people with physical disabilities who need help clearing snow this winter.
The project is the senior capstone project of Charlie Meitner and his friend Sam Krannawitter.
Residents can request a “Snow Angel Needed Here” yard sign for themselves or a loved one at SnowAngelsHays.com from Nov. 1 through Dec. 15. Meitner and Krannawitter will deliver the sign and add the address to a running list.
The sign lets neighbors and volunteers know the occupant needs help clearing snow from a walkway, driveway or sidewalk. Volunteers pitch in when they are able and can email [email protected] for a list of addresses.
Dallas Haselhorst donated his time to help with the project’s website, and Meitner wrote a grant to the Heartland Community Foundation last winter to pay for the signs.
