HaysMed CNA turns class project into free comfort kits for chemotherapy patients

Addy Couchman, a certified nursing assistant at HaysMed and a full-time Fort Hays State University student, has created Chemo Comfort Kits for patients at the HaysMed Dreiling/Schmidt Cancer Institute in Hays.

The kits grew out of a project for a Leadership 310 class. They are baskets filled with goodies and comfort items that patients can take free of charge during chemotherapy treatment.

Couchman asked patients what they would like to see in the kits before putting them together. Her aim is to remind every patient that they are loved, supported and never alone.
