Jose D. Masi

Jose D. Masi, 75, of Hays, died Saturday, October 31, 2026, in Hays.

He was born November 29, 1950, in Asunción, Paraguay, to Domingo and Olga (Jimenez) Masi. He married Janice Iannone on January 8, 1976.

Jose graduated from medical school in 1974. He served in the U.S. Army as a pathologist for about a decade before moving into private practice, serving communities in the Pacific Northwest until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Janice, of Hays; his children, Alexander Masi of Yakima, Washington, and Caroline (Masi) Meier and her husband, Mark, and their four children, of Hays; and his daughter, Diesil Olga Masi Céspedes, her husband, Guennantd Matvei Cuentas Zavala Eckholt, and their two children, of Asunción, Paraguay.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the VFW Foundation in care of the funeral home, or to a local Veterans of Foreign Wars post of the donor’s choosing.
